NIDHIKANDASUTTA (Sermon About Accumulating Wealth)
Although someone buried treasure deep in the bottom of a well, with the goal that if one day it is required for a favor, then he will be able to use it. Or he thinks “This is for my release from King’s anger, or for ransom when I was being held as hostages or to pay off debts when in difficult circumstances or in trouble“. These are the reasons for someone to hoard his wealth. Even if the treasure was buried deep in the bottom of the well, it would not meet all the needs forever.
The pile of the treasure might be moved, or he forgot the signs or if the dragons take it or the Yakkhas steal it. It might also be stolen by relatives or he might not have kept it well, or when his good karma has been exhausted, all the treasure will disappear.
