The Only Reality is the Present
A Japanese soldier was captured by his enemy and put into prison. That night, he could not sleep because he was sure that he will be tortured the next day. Suddenly the teacher‘s words flashed in his mind, “Tomorrow is not reality. The only reality is the present.” Then he came back to present time, when he can relax and sleep comfortably.
“Those who are not gripped by the future like a bird in the sky and the lilies of the field. Nothing to worry about tomorrow. Entirely in the present, holy man!”
~ Anthonny De Mello (author of ‘The Song of the Bird‘)
